The Distant City is a series of collages created with spray-paints, alcohol inks, paper cut-outs and photos of building taken in Vancouver, BC. These were made, guided by the natural limits of analogue collage; working with what materials are on hand, the size of the images, the colours and texture of the paper.
By combining the everyday urban landscape of Vancouver, and collages inherent ability to reinvent the familiar, something mysteriously new is created, an escape into an alternate urban landscape, familiar but distorted and reimagined.
